Catalog description
This course involves the study of a major instrument or voice and a performance requirement in final jury exam. Specific requirements in applied lessons are defined by the departmental faculty and the applied instructor. The curriculum may cover a wide array of musical styles, including classical, jazz, rock/pop/hip- hop, cross cultural, electronic, American Roots, and improvisation, among others. Students are not only encouraged, but required to pursue internships, apprenticeships, auditions and professional opportunities, up to 20 hours per week, related to their Applied Major. Proof of such activities may be in the form of written documentation such as offers of engagement, invitations to audition. In the case of International Students, prior approval on the I20 and CPT documentation. This course involves the study of a major instrument or voice and a performance requirement in final jury exam.
