Catalog description

Prerequisites: PSY 210 or COM 201 . This course examines the evolving landscape of digital media and communication technologies, including social media platforms, algorithmic recommendation systems, mixed and extended reality (AR/VR) environments, voice assistants, smart home/vehicle systems, and user-facing generative AI services such as large language model-based chatbots. Through discussions and readings, students engage critically with the social, psychological, and communicative implications of these digital media. Students formulate and test hypotheses via empirical projects about how digital media shape human perception, attitudes, and behaviors in everyday life, from personal to professional contexts.
