Pre or Corequisites: PSY 210 . This course examines psychological theories and research on identity, group dynamics, and diversity across individual and societal contexts. Students explore how social categories such as race, gender, class, sexuality, culture, and ability intersect to shape perception, opportunity, and experience. Topics include stereotyping, prejudice, privilege, stigma, and the psychological consequences of inequality. Emphasis is placed on understanding both the challenges and benefits of diversity, as well as strategies for promoting equity, inclusion, and social justice. Through reflection, discussion, and analysis of contemporary issues, students develop tools for critically evaluating how diversity influences thought, behavior, and intergroup relations.
