Prerequisites: PSY 210 . This course provides a foundation for understanding the biological, psychological, cognitive, emotional, personal, and social changes that occur from conception through death. Students examine the development and stages of life through theoretical perspectives and empirical findings. Fundamental concepts and theories encompass psychodynamic, cognitive and behavioral, and contextual and evolutionary (environmental and genetic) perspectives. Students acquire an understanding of how individuals develop throughout their lives with an emphasis on progression as a lifelong, multidimensional, and multidirectional process. The course also examines social, cultural, and ethical aspects of psychological development.
