Catalog description

Prerequisites: PSY 210 . This course provides students with a comprehensive understanding of the psychological principles that guide child development. Students explore normative development from conception through adolescence while cultivating insight into the psychological nature of the child. Areas of focus include physical, cognitive, moral, social, and emotional development with an emphasis on factors that influence developmental trajectories. Research findings, psychological theories, and current events are used to examine how course concepts apply to various contexts including family, peer, school, and cultural settings. Students also investigate various therapy and treatment approaches used in clinical practice with children and adolescence.
