Catalog description

Prerequisite: undergraduate thermodyamics. Core course for students in Material Science and Engineering. Review of first, second, and third laws of thermodynamics and their applications to materials. Stability criteria, simultaneous chemical reactions, binary and multicomponent solutions, phase diagrams, surfaces, adsorption phenomena, thermochemistry of homogeneous and heterogeneous reactions are covered.
