Introduction to six areas essential to a comprehensive understanding of environmental policy: concepts of environmental policy; tools (law, economics, planning, science, engineering, ethics) for environmental policy; the U.S. perspective (NEPA, clean air and water acts, CERCLA, etc.); the international perspective (Club of Rome models, 1972 UNEP, 1992 Rio, etc.); industrial perspective (pollution prevention/life cycle engineering, privatization, etc.); and the local perspective (New Jersey DEP, NGOs, local industry, shoreline, etc.).
