Catalog description
The survey course provides students with the foundational principles of U.S. business law and introduces essential legal concepts relevant to technology-driven organizations. The course establishes the core of business law: sources of U.S. law, the legal process and roles of courts and administrative agencies, contract formation (offer, acceptance, consideration), breach and remedies, and the fundamentals of agency and business organizations. Negotiation and Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) are introduced as primary mechanisms for resolving business disputes. The course also exposes students to major contemporary legal domains shaping business practice. Students learn to read and brief the cases, analyze business problems, and apply legal reasoning to common commercial scenarios.
