Catalog description

Prerequisite: MATH 661 or departmental approval. This course provides an overview of methods for data analysis and statistical consulting. Emphasis is placed on communication of the results of statistical analyses with scientists in other disciplines. Case studies will be used to illustrate using statistical thinking and methodology when dealing with data, with a focus on the goals of the analysis, interpretation of the output of statistical software, and presentation of findings.
