Catalog description

This course provides students with the knowledge, skills, and frameworks to critically examine and design user-facing AI systems from a human-centered perspective. Students develop expertise in AI/ML capabilities and limitations alongside HCI theory, then investigate fundamental challenges in AI systems, such as uncertainty, opacity, errors, and algorithmic bias. Through engagement with contemporary research literature, students will learn to analyze AI systems for transparency, fairness, user control, and explainability; assess ethical and societal implications across stakeholder groups; and apply human-AI interaction paradigms for different use contexts and user needs.
