Prerequisites: ENGL 102 with a grade of B or higher, and 6 credits at the 300-level History and Humanities GER; 3 credits at the 300-level History and Humanities GER may be taken as a co-requisite. Restrictions: 3.3 GPA or higher; Good standing in the Honors College for Dorman Scholars; Registration requires senior standing or higher; Agreement of a faculty advisor and approval of the department and the Honors College are required. The first part of a two-semester undergraduate thesis. Students will work closely with a thesis advisor in a specific area of the advisor’s expertise. Students will learn how to formulate a hypothesis, identify relevant literature and methods to research their selected topic through analyzing and interpreting data, evidence, and information, and describe work with an oral defense and written thesis. An appropriate research methods course or equivalent research experience at the discretion of the department and the Honors College is needed.
