Prerequisites: Instructor permission required; Recommended prior or concurrent coursework relevant to the proposed experience; Permission may be granted by the NJIT History Department chairperson or by the History Department faculty advisor leading the associated learning experience. Corequisites: None required; May be taken as a co-requisite to a 3-credit HIST course by arrangement. Restrictions: Enrollment by instructor permission. A 1-credit independent study in which students pursue a faculty-approved experiential learning opportunity beyond the regular classroom - for example, a short-term study abroad, fieldwork, archival or digital-humanities project, or applied research with a cultural or historical institution. Pre-experience preparation and post-experience reflection or project work are required. May be taken stand-alone or as a co-requisite to a 3-credit HIST course. May be repeated for credit with a different experience and advisor approval.
