Catalog description
Prerequisites: Undergraduate course in circuits and power systems. This course provides an in-depth study of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems, covering the principles, modeling, analysis, design, installation, and troubleshooting of modern grid-connected and stand-alone PV systems. Topics include renewable energy fundamentals, solar radiation and sun-path characteristics, PV device physics and module technologies, balance-of-system components, system configurations, and practical considerations for installation and troubleshooting. Emphasis is placed on performance evaluation of PV systems within real-world technical and regulatory constraints. This course is intended for graduate students with prior coursework in circuits, power systems, or renewable energy systems.
