Catalog description

Prerequisites: ECE 231 , MATH 213 and MATH 222 . Fundamental electromagnetics laws from Poisson’s and Laplace’s to Maxwell’s equations, observation of electro and magneto-dtatics laws as particular solutions to Maxwells equations, electromagnetic fields and energy, characterization of materials (conductors, dielectrics, magnetic materials), solutions of Maxwell's equations in terms of plane waves, reflection and refraction of plane waves in dielectric and conducting media (lossless and lossy), total internal reflection and total transmission of plane waves at the dielectric interface, parallel Plate Waveguide and Transmission lines, transients and frequency domain solutions in lossy and lossless lines, Smith chart and its applications, impedance matching.
