Catalog description

Prerequisites: DS 650 and DS 680 and DS 677 . The course will equip students with knowledge of cutting-edge research topics in emerging areas, including conversational AI agents, human-AI teaming, and generative AI-driven visual analytics. Students will read peer-reviewed papers, make presentations, and propose research-backed solutions for creating futuristic human-AI systems. In creating these systems, they will utilize advanced visualization and Large Language Models (LLMs), as well as theoretical frameworks for data sensemaking and cognitive design principles, which help optimize the best of both worlds: human reasoning and the responsible use of generative AI.
