Introduction to Coding Agents. 3 credits, 3 contact hours
New Jersey Institute of Technology · UGRD · Fall 2026
Catalog description
Prerequisites: CS 100 or DS 100 . This course introduces students to coding agents: intelligent systems powered by large language models that can write code, debug programs, interact with tools, and help automate software development tasks. Students learn the basics of agentic reasoning loops, tool use, memory, evaluation, and multi-step workflows. Through weekly homework assignments, students build simple but functional coding agents and learn the fundamentals of AI-assisted programming. This course emphasizes conceptual understanding, guided practice, and building working prototypes rather than advanced theoretical models.
