Catalog description

Prerequisites: CS 610 or CS 435 or doctoral student status or instructor permission. A comprehensive study of advanced algorithm design and analysis, with an emphasis on both foundational and cutting-edge techniques. Topics include approximation algorithms for hard computational problems, randomized algorithms and their analysis, and algorithms for real-time algorithmic problems. Students will also learn practical aspects of how to use and apply state-of-the-art software to solve combinatorial optimization problems that arise in operations research, logistics, resource allocation and other fields.
