Students will study communication, coordination, consistency, replication, and fault tolerance, and how these concepts enable systems to scale across many machines. The course also considers emerging demands on distributed infrastructure, such as support for increasingly data- and compute-intensive workloads, dynamic resource allocation, heterogeneous resources, and low-latency processing.
