Prerequisites: CS 288 , CS 332 , CS 350 with a grade of C or better. This course studies trusted computing as a computer system security approach. Students will learn how trust is established and enforced in modern systems using software and hardware isolation mechanisms beyond the traditional operating system kernel. Topics include virtualization, microkernels, hardware security primitives such as TPM, Intel SGX, and ARM TrustZone, speculative-execution and side-channel attacks, and the use of trusted computing techniques in cloud, mobile, and AI/ML systems.
