CHE 360
Separation Processes I. 4 credits, 4 contact hours
New Jersey Institute of Technology · UGRD · Fall 2026
Catalog description
Prerequisites: CHE 342 , CHE 370 . This course focuses on chemical engineering separations and introduces the fundamental principles used to separate and purify chemical mixtures. Emphasis is placed on mass-transfer fundamentals and phase equilibrium concepts, which provide the foundation for separation process analysis and design. The course covers flash, batch, and staged distillation methods; gas absorption and stripping; liquid–liquid extraction; and introduces adsorption and membrane separation processes. Analytical methods, graphical techniques, and process simulation tools are used throughout to support problem-solving and design.
