Catalog description

Prerequisites: CE 210 or departmental approval. This course explores emerging construction technologies and their impact on modern construction and infrastructure projects. Topics include Building Information Modeling, Internet of Things (IoT), digital twin systems, reality capture methods, construction automation and robotics, industrialized construction, 3D printing, sensing technologies, simulation tools, and the integration of machine learning and artificial intelligence in construction workflows. Students will examine how these technologies influence project cost, schedule, quality, safety, and sustainability. The course also addresses the ethical considerations and workforce implications of increasingly automated job sites, preparing students to critically assess and lead technology-driven innovation in the built environment.
