Prerequisites: CE 101 , CE 210 , or approval of the instructor. This course introduces the application of Building Information Modeling (BIM) in the context of the design and construction of the built environment. The course covers fundamental methods, theories, and practices geared toward creating graphical representations of building components and geometries in alignment with current Architectural, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) standards. Emphasis is placed on using Revit for digital modeling and leveraging it for design analysis, constructability planning, simulation, cost estimation, documentation, and facility management. The course also introduces advanced reality-capture technologies, including laser scanning and photogrammetry, to create accurate digital representations of built and natural environments and integrate as-built data into BIM workflows. Clash detection and coordination are performed using Navisworks to identify and resolve design potential conflicts prior to construction, supporting improved constructability and project performance.
