Human Behavior and the Social Environment II

Catalog description

In this course, students learn about human behavior and development within the context of the life cycle from a macro systems perspective. The course examines how complex interactions among various levels of social systems impact individual development through the lenses of social, racial, economic, and environmental justice. It also explores societal forces that, though often invisible, significantly shape the life experiences of large populations. HSBE II places special emphasis on social relationships that promote the welfare of some while limiting opportunities and choices for others. The semester addresses how class, gender, race, ethnicity, religion, age, sexual orientation, and other aspects of diversity influence the development and behavior of larger systems.
