Catalog description
This course explores the principles of organizational leadership and management within parks, recreation, tourism, and related organizations. Students examine organizational behavior, team leadership, and systems thinking to understand how leaders plan, organize, staff, direct, and control resources to achieve mission-driven goals. Through applied learning, students practice key operational skills in supervision, communication, human resource processes, and decision-making while managing teams ethically and effectively. Coursework also develops strategic management competencies, including change management, organizational culture analysis, and adaptive leadership. By the end of the course, students will be equipped to lead people and organizations with integrity, adaptability, and vision in dynamic recreation environments.
