University of New Hampshire-Main Campus · UGRD · Fall 2026
1 section
Catalog description
Physics 702 is the second course (after Physics 701) in a two-course sequence on quantum mechanics. Physics 702 covers continuous systems, wave functions, wave packets, the dynamics of a free particle, spin and angular momentum, ladder systems, many-particle systems, stationary states in 1D and 3D, the hydrogen wave function, perturbation theory, the hyper-fine structure of the hydrogen atom, and scattering. Quantum Mechanics I (Physics 701) and Quantum Mechanics 2 (this course) together provide a solid foundation for graduate study in physics.
