McDonough & Braungart in The Upcycle. A growing perspective is emerging in the sustainability field that refocuses attention away from managing scarcity, to creating new abundant possibilities. Managing scarcity is grounded in the continuing paradigm of what the human-environment relationship has been. Creating sustainability by tapping into and increasing abundance is grounded in a paradigm of what the human-environment relationship can be. Students will explore and expand their understanding of this perspective by utilizing and honing their critical reading, thinking, presentation and writing skills; by way of discussion, as well as individual and group research.
