Catalog description

This course surveys the history of the Middle East (defined as the territory of the former Ottoman and Qajar Empires) from 1768 to the present. In addition to offering an overview of major political, social and economic developments, the course aims to sketch a basic picture of social and cultural life at different points. Course meets the History major requirements for Group III.
