Catalog description

Introduction to data analysis techniques necessary to quantify and explore terrestrial water budgets, including rates of precipitation, evapotranspiration, and runoff; recurrence intervals; and construction of rating curves. Topics will include data importation, data cleaning, data manipulation, and curve-fitting, with an emphasis on visual and exploratory analysis. Project-based labs will involve active application of newly learned techniques to publicly available USGS and NOAA datasets. Students will gain experience using Python Pandas and artificial intelligence (AI) coding tools for hydrological applications. No programming experience required.
