Earth's Crust: Formation and Deformation

Catalog description
In this course students will learn to identify the major rock types of Earth's crust, discuss how they form and learn to identify and measure geologic strain indicators in rocks and use them to interpret the paleo- or modern stress fields responsible for their deformation. Students will learn to portray and visualize petrologic and structural data sets on stereonets, geologic maps, and in cross sections.
