Historical analysis of the development of film in the U.S. and abroad from the end of World War II and the rise of TV to today's era of video streaming and digital cinema. Covers topics such as film and the cold war, the decline of the Hollywood studio system, major international stylistic movements, independent cinema, film distribution and exhibition trends, the impact of new technologies, globalization, and economic consolidation, among others.
