Catalog description

Provides a combined wet-lab and computational experience in microbial genomics and biotechnology, including microbial cultivation and biochemical testing, genome analysis, and bioprocess-relevant workflows. Students will conduct experiments relevant to genomic characterization while learning approaches for detecting, preventing, and mitigating microbial contamination in laboratory and biomanufacturing settings. Bioinformatics modules introduce hands-on genome assembly, annotation, and comparative analysis using current tools. Emphasis is placed on experimental design, data interpretation, and communication of findings.
