Clinical Human Pathophysiology

Catalog description

This course provides an in-depth exploration of the mechanisms of disease, emphasizing the physiological dysfunction resulting in clinical symptomology. Students will examine the etiology, progression, clinical manifestations, and therapeutic foundations of major pathological conditions affecting bodily systems. We will approach pathophysiology through a biomedical and physiological focus on disorders of morphologic, genetic, infectious, inflammatory, developmental, autoimmune, or of acquired origin. Conditions managed primarily through lifestyle changes, nutritional, or behavioral intervention are excluded, as this course emphasizes underlying pathophysiological mechanisms.
