Catalog description

This course provides a comprehensive overview of emergency management principles as they relate to fire departments, emergency services, community stakeholders, and partner agencies. Students will explore the five phases of emergency management – mitigation, preparedness, protection, response, and recovery – and examine the roles of key agencies and stakeholders in each phase. Emphasis is placed on understanding the legal framework governing emergency operations, analyzing community vulnerabilities, coordinating resources, and employing effective communication strategies.
