Advanced Human Osteology

Catalog description

This course will build on the skills and topics covered in ANTH660 (Human Osteology). This course will focus on methods in osteology, applicable to those interested in forensic anthropology and/or bioarchaeology. This hands-on course will delve into the most current standards for estimations of the biological profile (osteological sex, age-at-death, biogeographic ancestry, and stature), as well as the interpretation of evidence of pathological conditions and traumatic injuries on skeletal and dental tissues. Further, this course will continue to refine students' skills with commingled and fragmentary remains—a reality of working in either forensic anthropology or bioarchaeology.
