Equine Stable Management

Catalog description
Students learn to make equine management decisions based upon science and business principles through managing a subset of the UNH horse herd. Students will collectively manage the routine care of horses 7 days a week; completing daily barn chores, monitoring nutrition and health parameters and maintaining records. Lecture topics will complement the barn management tasks including herd health and husbandry, human resources, and stable design. Field trips highlight different-sized equine enterprises.
