CHEM 442 offers a supplement to the CHEM 241 /242 series and details organic reactions that are not covered in the original series. The course emphasizes mechanistic considerations for organic-based chemical reactions as well as synthetic approaches and strategies. Additionally, the course covers oxidation states of carbon, acidity/basicity, stereochemistry, carbon-carbon bond forming reactions, catalysis, and radical reactions all with a focus on carbon-based molecules. Pre-requisite(s): CHEM 121 , CHEM 122 , CHEM 241 , and CHEM 242 with a C- or better.
