Catalog description

This course is a continuation of 'Spanish for Healthcare Professionals' and expands students' abilities to communicate effectively with Spanish-speaking patients in routine clinical interactions. In this course, students will build on foundational vocabulary, interviewing skills, and sociocultural knowledge acquired in SPAN 3570 . Through guided practice, simulated clinical encounters, and engagement with authentic medical materials, students will develop greater confidence and fluency in conducting conversations about symptoms, daily routines, medications, and follow-up care. Emphasis is placed on strengthening communicative strategies, improving comprehension of patient narratives, and deepening understanding of cultural perspectives toward health and healthcare in the Spanish-speaking world.
