SOCIAL WORK IN A DATA DRIVEN WORLD

Catalog description

This course develops foundational research literacy skills for social workers. Students learn to interpret and critically evaluate statistical information used in research, policy, agency reports, and media. Emphasis is placed on understanding descriptive and inferential statistics, ethical data use, and evidence-informed decision-making. This course examines how bias, systemic inequities, and power influence data collection, analysis, and interpretation. Students build skills to assess the quality of evidence, communicate statistical findings clearly, and use data to promote client well-being as well as inform organizational, community, and policy decision making.
