PHYS 8710
MODELING INSTRUCTION IN ELECTRICITY AND MAGNETISM
University of Nebraska at Omaha · UGRD · Fall 2026
Catalog description
This graduate-level course applies the Modeling Instruction framework to the teaching and learning of electricity and magnetism within physical science curricula. Building on foundational Modeling principles, participants engage in inquiry-based investigations to develop, test, and refine conceptual and mathematical models of electric and magnetic phenomena. Emphasis is placed on multiple representations, experimental design, and evidence-based reasoning to support student sense-making. Participants examine student thinking, classroom discourse, and instructional sequencing, and adapt Modeling-based instructional materials to support coherent integration of electricity and magnetism models across diverse educational contexts.
