Catalog description
A first course in philosophy designed to introduce students to the central theories of ethics, as well as what it means to be morally and politically decent. Students engage theories and concepts by exploring how they are relevant in contemporary society. Central topics may include the relationship between the state and the individual, autonomy, governance, philosophical anarchism, fascism, populism, the role of intellectuals in society, human rights, humanitarian intervention, and civil disobedience.
