RESEARCH IN INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY

Catalog description

Research in IT involves an overview of the research process specific to problems in IT. You will learn about theories in IT broadly and relevant to your areas of research. You will identify key components of research problems in IT, understand different types of research processes, develop research questions, and design research projects. You will learn to construct research instruments that enable you to collect data. You will also learn about the different data collection and analysis tools and techniques in closely related fields. As part of this course, students who work in human subjects research will have an opportunity to take CITI training to achieve the research readiness they need to succeed in the PhD in Computing and Information Science (CIS) program.
