American Humanities explores the underpinnings of democracy in the United States and the imaginative arts created by American artists of all genres. This course is a celebration of the complexity of American cultural artifacts and all that they reveal about American history and life. The course texts, contents, and pedagogic styles may vary from instructor to instructor; all iterations will be intellectually and academically rigorous, exemplifying standards of excellence that Goodrich expects of all scholars.
