This course is an introduction to parallel computing, that is using multiple processors to execute algorithms. Topics discussed include: classification of parallel computers; shared-memory versus message passing; forms of parallelism; measures of performance; designing parallel algorithms; parallel programming and parallel languages; synchronization constructs; and operating systems for parallel computers.
