Catalog description

Students will understand organizational communication and leadership theories, models, and processes to equip them with the skills, strategies, and tools to expand leadership responsibilities and guide organizations effectively. By critically applying their learning to be engaged and thoughtful organizational citizens (members, leaders, critical analysts, etc.), this course shapes their understanding of organizational communication and culture to meet today's dynamic business challenges. The relationship between communication and leadership within organizations (e.g., for-profit companies, voluntary associations, and non-profit groups) is explored. Students gain theoretical and experiential knowledge on communication leadership styles, superior and subordinate interactions, power, ethics and corporate social responsibility, diversity, and gender issues.
