Catalog description

The course emphasizes the general principles of evolution, particularly focusing on evolutionary changes and the mechanisms of evolution (natural selection, gene flow, mutation and genetic drift) that apply to all or most organisms. The course covers micro- and macroevolution, speciation, and human evolution Students will discover how scientists can learn about what has happened in the evolutionary past and the most common patterns of change (i.e., changes that have characterized various groups of organisms).
