Catalog description

This course provides an overview of the field of art therapy and the use of therapeutic art. Topics covered include: The historical use of art as healing across cultures, the contemporary use of art therapy with various populations and settings; an introduction to the theories, techniques; and the profession of art therapy. Students participate in representative art therapy activities, but previous art experience is neither required nor expected. This course does not qualify participants to practice art therapy but will provide information on its safe and effective utilization by health professionals.
