An introduction to basic concepts in linguistics such as phonetics, phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics, neurolinguistics, discourse analysis and language variation. Designed for teachers (or future teachers) of English as an additional language, but also for world language teachers, classroom activities feature identifying theoretical underpinnings of practical language issues and connect them to questions language learners will have.
