Exploration of US laws, case law, and policies on special education and civil rights relevant to disabled people, particularly in schools. Topics covered include the American legal system, disability law and history, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, and major tenants and issues in special education law: free appropriate public education, assessment, individualized education programs, least restrictive environment, procedural rights and safeguards, and discipline.
