Catalog description

Introduction to two-phase flow, condensation, and boiling. Basic two-phase flow equations, flow patterns, homogeneous flow model, slip flow model, drift flux model, annular flow model, pressure drop calculations, flow instabilities, and two-phase choking. Thin laminar and turbulent falling film condensation and condensation on tubes. Bubble nucleation and dynamics, boiling regimes, heat transfer and critical heat flux in both nucleate pool boiling and flow boiling, and film boiling. Applications to heat exchangers, special problems, and practical considerations.
