From the conquest of Algeria in 1830 to the modern day. Islamic resistance to the European occupation, the development of a settler society and strategies of European colonialism, the emergence of the Algerian nationalist movement, revolution and the war of independence (1954-62), post colonialism, history and memory, and current immigration debates in France.
